Student Assistants to the Chancellor for 2011-2012

Desire Campusano and Nick Sidney are the Student Assistants to the Chancellor for 2011-2012.

Desire is a senior graduating in June 2012, with a major in sociology, emphasis in law and society, and a double minor in Chicana/o Studies and communication. Desire is currently a peer academic counselor for the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and co-coordinator for La Raza Cultural Days through her programming internship at the Cross Cultural Center. She participates in a wide array of student organizations, committees and community activities, including the Lupe Scholarship Committee and the UC Davis School of Law's King Hall Pre-Law Outreach Program. She is also a volunteer at Davis Community Meals and a member of Danzantes Del Alma, a Baile Folklorico dance program at UC Davis. Desire also volunteers as a mentor for students in a Chicana/o Studies freshman seminar and for students who utilize Services for International Students and Scholars.

Nick is a senior graduating in June 2012, with a major in international relations and a minor in communication. Nick is the current chair of the ASUCD Student-Police Relations Committee, and chair of the Campus Unions and Recreation Board. He also currently serves as the student assistant to the dean and coordinator for 20 student peer advisers in the College of Letters and Science. Additionally, Nick is a member of the Special Academic Programs Committee within the UC Davis Academic Senate. During his tenure as a UC Davis student, Nick has served as an intern for Senator Barbara Boxer and has been a visiting team member for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. He has also served as the ASUCD Elections Committee outreach coordinator and elections chair. Nick is active in the Davis Honors Challenge and maintains membership with numerous campus and community organizations.

Overall, Desire and Nick have an outstanding record of service and leadership on campus and in the community. Each brings a complementary set of leadership skills and experiences to the positions.
